Licences

What covers the site's code, what covers the game content, and what you are allowed to do with it.

Aubaine is an open, non-commercial project. Two licences apply to it, and they do not cover the same things.

The site’s code

The code that runs this site is under the MIT licence. You may read it, reuse it, modify it and redistribute it, commercial projects included, as long as you keep the copyright notice.

The game content

Everything the codex carries is under the Creative Commons CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 licence: the rules, the skills, the trees, the equipment, the states, the book chapters and the illustrations.

What you may do with it

Play
Run Aubaine at your table, print the booklets, hand them to your players. None of that needs permission.
Adapt
Translate a page, change a rule, rewrite a tree, build your own material on top of it.
Share
Republish the content, as it is or modified, under three conditions.

The three conditions

Attribution
Credit Aubaine, link back to the licence, and say whether you changed anything.
NonCommercial
Do not sell this content and do not put it behind a payment.
ShareAlike
A modified version you publish carries the same licence as the original.

This summary is here to be read quickly. The full licence text is what governs.

What these licences do not cover

The icons and the fonts the site uses come from elsewhere and keep their own terms. The credits page names each one. The flags in the language picker are claimed by nobody here.
